We start the trek toward 1 million made foul shots in a big way on Veterans Day, November 11, 2009, but the first 10 are now in the books thanks to the great folks at Epsom Central School, who invited me to take part in this morning’s Veterans Day assembly.
Teachers Brian Nase and Ken Baxter, two Veterans themselves, graciously agreed to make the ceremonial first shots, and eighth-grader Dylan Banks, whose grandfathers are both Vietnam Marine Veterans and were in attendance, made one as well. Then, with my two boys Noah and Mason helping to rebound, I clanked the first two (more nervous than expected) before making good on the next 10.
Thanks to the students, school staff and Veterans in attendance, who were very enthusiastic in their support … as well as my wife Heather, daughter Rosie, father Seth, and in-laws Jack and Earlene Wormald.
We’re off and running …
