The first major milestone on our way to 1 million made foul shots came at halftime of the Pembroke/Merrimack Valley varsity boys’ game tonight (a resounding Pembroke victory, by the way). The first attempt barely touched the front of the rim, but the next 20 were pure. Still a long way to go, but 10 percent is a good start.
Thanks to Superintendent Peter Warburton for the invitation, to Athletic Director Suzanne Klink for being a gracious host, to Paul Dean and Ed Cloe for rebounding, to the cheerleaders for passing the bucket and those in the stands for filling it. And of course, thanks to those Veterans in attendance.
Every shot made shall serve as a reminder of the reverence due those
who have honored us with their selfless service to this country.
Every dollar raised shall serve to benefit those who now suffer for that sacrifice.
To all Veterans, though it will never be enough, this is our solemn thank you.
That’s 100,000 down, 900,000 to go to 1 million made foul shots.
