At some point, I wanted to test how long it would take me to make 1,000 foul shots without a rebounder — more specifically find out if I could do it in less than two hours — and tonight turned out to be the night. My answer: I can do it in under two hours, barely.
It took all of 1 hour and 56 minutes, with the occasional feeling that I was on the brink of hallucination, to get through 1,000.
And yes, there was one highlight: I discovered that you can actually get a ball jammed between the rim and the backboard — that’s right, plain stuck — shooting foul shots. I would have never guessed it, but apparently it was just that kind of a brick. I can’t wait to go back and watch it on tape.
