The Pembroke gang for 1,000

05 Dec

I didn’t have the presence of mind to take a picture tonight, so the image above is plucked from the video … but what a great group of kids on hand to help.  Jordan Williams, Pat Welch and Brad Rhoades joined me immediately following their workout with the Pembroke varsity team, joining the littler guys Cam Welch and Noah.

We were screaming.  I uncharacteristically made a bunch in a row at the start, and away we went.  These guys are eighth-graders, and players, and they’re built for speed.  We knocked off 1,000 in 75 minutes, which I’m pretty sure is a 1,500 two-hour pace.  It was once again human error on the organizer’s part that held us back.  I forgot to bring the power cord for the video camera.  No, we didn’t get cut off, but by the 1,000 mark we were low on battery and decided to call it quits.

Back at it in the morning to go over the 30k mark.  That’s 29,007 down, 970,993 to go to 1 million.

1000 in 75 mins is 1600 over two hours, or 2000 over 2 1/2 hours. Just for fun I figured that if you did this pace for a week straight you’d be 134,400 closer to your goal. Dream big…
