It’s probably about time we start keeping track of shots that have been made but won’t count because, for what is becoming a variety of reasons, they were not recorded … like the 400 or so from this morning.
Turns out there’s this un-handy little button on the top of my video camera called WEB MODE, which apparently activates a function by which a maximum of 10 minutes can be recorded. I can tell you two things about this button: 1) Half-asleep at 5:30 in the morning, it’s easy to push without meaning to; and 2) It’s a mean, mean button.
It was at No. 500 this morning, or about 40 minutes into the driveway shooting session, that I checked on the video for the first time, which is when I realized what I had done. I’m not going to bore you here with the string of nasty words that came to mind, but I’m pretty sure only one or two came out. The next step was to simply deactivate that cursed WEB MODE and carry on. Figuring I had at least 100 recorded of the 500 made, Annette and I made another 900, which is a total of 1,400 … net 1,000.
Keep in mind, this is 1 million recorded shots we’re aiming for here. That said, we’ve now lost about 1,400-ish to self-inflicted video mishaps.
On the glass-half-full side, the official running count of made foul shots is 161,907 down, 838,093 to go.
