October 6, 2010: Welcome to fall

06 Oct

I’m really not sure who she is.  But anyway …

It wasn’t long ago that I was raving about how this 5-7 a.m. pocket of time seemed to be absolutely perfect.  Apart from the social advantage of it coming at no inconvenience to the family, it was shielded from the dramatic heat of the summer.  But most importantly, for many many trips to the driveway foul line, there was a seemingly miraculous absence of wind.

Well, those days appear to be gone.

Today’s New Hampshire autumn shooting conditions, over the hour and 28 minutes it took to make 1,000 foul shots (that’s too long, by the way), quickly evolved from not too bad to a little annoying to completely frustrating to kind of amusing … and here’s about where it transitioned over to downright silly …

Wasn’t a hard decision to stop at 1,000, considering the next 500 could very well have taken us into tomorrow.

We’re now at 459,507 down, 540,493 to go to 1 million made foul shots.
