November 24: The Shoot-A-Way Homecourt

24 Nov

Those dudes up there? Six teammates and four little brothers. That’s our Mason front and center, Jason at the far left, Timmy next to Jason, Basil at the far right, and the other six belong to our Noah’s EYAA basketball team — from left, Mike, Malik, Chandler, Cam, Robbie and Noah. Ready for the quiz?

They had practice tonight, and following that practice, we busted out a new toy: the Shoot-A-Way Homecourt. The Ohio-based company’s president, John Joseph, had e-mailed after hearing about us on Veterans Day, asking if he might be able to help by providing a rebounding machine.

We’ve long-since had the outdoor shooting covered, with the marvelous Rapid Fire by SKLZ, a.k.a. “Annette.”  But I’ve occasionally worried about the days that we’re not able to shoot outdoors and also not able to enlist rebounding help. Those days have been few and far between since we began (only once or twice, I believe), but no harm in being prepared.

Now, we’re prepared. The Homecourt was delivered by tractor trailer on Monday, and tonight we wheeled it down to the gym to give it a trial run and see how it looked.

Here’s how it looked …

Thanks, Mr. John Joseph. We haven’t named her yet, but she’s a beauty.
